How to get here
Quick guide: Naples food tours start from just two locations. Piazza Bellini, next to the ancient Greek walls at street level in the middle of the square, and Piazza Dante, in front of the monument to Dante Alighieri. Both are served by metro Line 1: Dante stop for Piazza Dante, Museo or Dante stops for Piazza Bellini, which are just a few minutes' walk away. Arrive with a 15-minute buffer, as once the tour starts, the group won’t wait for latecomers.

Piazza Bellini

This is the meeting point for the guided walking food tour and the street food tour with spritz. The exact spot is the ancient Greek walls in the middle of the square, the ones at street level in the open excavation—you can’t miss them, they’re the only ones like that around. The guide will hold a sign saying Street Food Tour. The square is always full of tables and people sitting around, so look for the walls, not the bars.

Piazza Dante

This is where the private food tour and the small-group street food tour start. The meeting point is the monument to Dante Alighieri, the statue in the centre of the square. The metro stop is called Dante and drops you right there. If you book the private tour, you won’t even have this issue, as pick-up is at your hotel—more on that in private tours.

From Centrale Station

From Centrale Station (Piazza Garibaldi), take Line 1 and you’ll be at Dante in just a few stops. If you have time and feel like it, it’s also a 20-minute walk along Corso Umberto, all flat. I wouldn’t recommend it with luggage, though—the pavement is crowded and there are scooters everywhere.

From Capodichino Airport

Take the Alibus to Piazza Garibaldi or Molo Beverello, then the metro. It’s not complicated, just time-consuming. If you land on the same day as the tour, leave plenty of extra time and don’t book the slot right after your arrival.

How early to arrive

I’d say 15 minutes. Not because the tour leaves early, but because Piazza Bellini and Piazza Dante are always packed, and spotting the guide with the sign takes a full lap of the square. Most importantly, groups leave on time, and once the tour starts, you can’t catch up—latecomers are left behind, and no one will come after you. What happens after the meeting point is explained in what to expect.

Advice from a Neapolitan

Save the metro stop in your phone, not the square’s address. In the historic centre, GPS will send you down alleys you don’t need, wasting the time you need to spare.

Before you go

Two things apply to both meeting points: closed shoes with grippy soles, because from there on it's all cobblestones, and keep an eye on the weather—it changes quickly in Naples. You’ll find them in what to wear and in , when to go.

Frequently asked questions

How do I get to Piazza Bellini from the station?

Metro Line 1 from Centrale Station to Dante or Museo, then a few minutes on foot. It’s the simplest route and doesn’t require any changes.

Where exactly is the meeting point in Piazza Dante?

In front of the monument to Dante Alighieri, the statue in the centre of the square. The guide will be there, not at the edges. The route starting here is part of the food itinerary.

What happens if I arrive late?

The group will leave without you, and you won’t be able to join once the tour has started. This is the strictest rule of all and applies to every walking tour—so don’t cut it fine.

Is it safe to wait alone in the square?

Yes, both are central, busy squares at all hours. Just take the usual precautions you would in any big city, which I’ve summed up in the historic centre is safe.
