Reviews of Naples food tours

I’ve taken the six food tours of Naples that you can book online and written a review for each one: what the tour actually is, how long it lasts, who I’d recommend it to, and who I’d tell to give it a miss. The ratings and number of reviews are the public data from GetYourGuide. If you’re in a hurry and want just one answer, it’s in which is the best one.
How to read these ratings
Out of six tours, four have a 4.9 rating. The other two—the private tour and the small-group tour—have a 4.7 rating, but with far fewer reviews. That doesn’t mean they’re worse tours. They’re smaller, newer operations, and on a private tour, the rating depends on the performance of just one person: with only a few dozen reviews, two lukewarm clients can really shift the average. A 4.9 from thousands of reviews shows the operation has been running smoothly for years; a 4.7 from just over a hundred means the data is still limited.
The other thing I look at before the rating is the type of experience. A two-and-a-half-hour stroll through the alleys and a three-hour indoor workshop can’t be compared—they’re two completely different outings, and half the people I know book the wrong one. If you haven’t decided yet, read first about what a street food tour is and how a pizza-making class.

If it’s your first time in Naples and you want to explore the historic centre while eating, start with the food walking tour page: it’s the most booked and the most tried-and-tested. If you’d rather get your hands in the dough, head to the wood-fired oven course. If you’re travelling with small children, someone who struggles to walk, or have a list of intolerances, the page you need is the private tour.
You won’t find any prices here. They change all the time, and reading months-old figures doesn’t help anyone: on how much it costs I explain what makes prices go up and down, and you can check the up-to-date number on the GetYourGuide widget in real time.
Frequently asked questions
How do you choose which tours to review?
I review the six most booked food tours in Naples on GetYourGuide—the ones anyone searching online will see anyway. I don’t add others just to make the page look more comprehensive. The side-by-side comparison, with duration and format, is in all the tours.
Are these reviews independent?
Yes. I’m not a tour operator, I don’t sell tickets, and I have no agreements with any pizzerias or fried-food stalls in the centre. I earn a small commission if you book through the links, but this doesn’t affect the ratings, which remain the public scores from the operators. How the site works is explained in transparency affiliations.
Should you avoid a tour with a 4.7 rating?
No, it mainly means it has far fewer reviews. In the small group and private tours, the rating depends on the guide you get, and with just a few dozen reviews, the average can fluctuate. If you want the real question to ask before booking, it’s in is it worth it.
